The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation launched Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters in 2017 to commemorate the Foundation’s 25th anniversary. Held annually during the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, this tribute has grown to include fire departments, families, and communities across the country, lighting homes and buildings in red to honor those we’ve lost.
This weekend, we light up our stations and remember the lives of those lost, including two of our own:
Lt. Joel Stephens 11.23.59 – 12.20.18
Firefighter Corby McKenzie 6.13.79 – 3.3.24
Families, friends, and members of the fire service will gather at National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Park, standing together in grief, in remembrance, and in strength. Their loss is immeasurable, but their loved ones’ legacy lives on in every call answered and every life protected.
