Proper timely ventilation of a structure fire allows the removal of smoke and superheated gasses making it safer for victims and firefighters allowing for a quicker extinguishment. The most effective location of a ventilation hole is the highest point above the fire.
In today's newer construction styles, roof slopes make this more difficult. With most commercially available props being for a lesser slope, this left a gap for being able to effectively train.
Our staff recognized this need and firefighters working along with our training division designed and built a 16/12 pitch roof prop on top of our current training prop. This will allow for more consistent training for our staff working on ventilation off the end of the ladder truck.
